It takes time and dedication to get through the program and become a professional painter.
Apprenticeship is the first step to becoming a professional union painter. Once applicants are accepted into the apprenticeship program offered by the local painter’s union, they begin a 3-year journey of class work combined with hands-on experience. Apprentices are paired with experienced journeymen to build practical knowledge that is often not found in the class portion. Once the apprentices have successfully completed their training, they become a journeyman.
The training is not just about painting and finishing techniques, either. It also involves job safety. Safety covers everything from Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards to first aid and CPR, as well as the proper ways to set up and use tools such as ladders and scaffolding.
This kind of training leads to consistent, uniform results – and higher customer satisfaction. They take great pride in their work, as do we. Our painters are professionals and understand the importance of adhering to job schedules, time- frames and specific customer needs.
